About The Position

The Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) is seeking a Compliance Investigator to protect and improve the health, safety, and welfare of Louisiana citizens through licensing, regulation, research, and discipline of physicians and allied health professionals. The ideal candidate will possess strong competencies in acting with ethics and integrity, building and supporting teams, communicating effectively, following policies and procedures, learning actively, and using data for informed, ethical decisions. This position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as a Compliance Investigator 1, 2, or 3.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses.
• OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field.
• OR A bachelor's degree.
• Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

• Receives, reviews, and evaluates written and oral complaints from the public and other sources indicating potential violations of State/Federal law or Board Rules and Regulations by licensees.
• Researches internal and external records, including State and Federal Laws and Board Regulations, related to specific investigative case issues.
• Develops investigative plans, which may include preparing written communications, obtaining and reviewing complex medical records, reviewing malpractice or criminal legal documentation, interviewing licensees, complainants, or other parties, and preparing detailed reports of investigative findings.
• Collaborates with the Director of Investigations, other Board staff, licensees, and outside legal counsels on investigative efforts.
• Prepares investigative findings for monthly Board meetings and testifies at Board meetings/hearings as requested.
• Receives complaint filings, initiates processing and opening of investigations in the computer system, and prepares investigative files.
• Responsible for long-term monitoring matters, including scheduled running of prescription monitoring program searches for violations.
