The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), Nevada Equal Rights Commission (NERC) office is hiring for a Compliance Investigator 2 in Reno or Las Vegas, depending on the candidate chosen. NERC investigates complaints involving discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodation. This position performs client intake, gathers and analyzes data, prepares Investigative Reports and Letters of Determination, and completes and closes cases utilizing a thorough understanding of EEO law and relevant state and federal guidelines as pertaining to employment, housing, and public accommodations and in accordance with policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service skills. Compliance Investigators perform investigations regarding violations of federal and/or State laws or regulations pertaining to a specific State program or regulatory area such as public assistance, real estate, insurance, employment discrimination or sexual harassment. The investigative process is initiated following a formal complaint or suspected violation utilizing standard investigative techniques. Incumbents are not sworn peace officers, and enforcement actions are limited to the specific program or regulatory area and involve informal resolution and/or recommendations for administrative sanctions or penalties which are imposed by a higher authority.
