We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Compliance & Control Analyst to support mortgage banking operations, regulatory monitoring, exception reporting, change management testing, and business control initiatives. This position is ideal for someone with mortgage operations experience who has strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of mortgage compliance concepts, and the ability to identify trends, research issues, and support process improvements in a fast-paced lending environment. The Compliance & Control Analyst will work closely with operations, compliance, business controls, and leadership teams to help monitor regulatory and operational risk, support reporting accuracy, assist with testing and remediation efforts, and help ensure business processes are operating effectively.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in a mortgage operations role preferred.
  • Experience with Encompass loan origination system preferred.
  • Knowledge of TRID and mortgage lending regulations preferred.
  • Experience with reporting, quality control, compliance support, or operational risk/control functions preferred.
  • Experience with user acceptance testing, system testing, or change management initiatives preferred.
  • Familiarity with HMDA, NMLS Mortgage Call Report, or mortgage regulatory reporting preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
  • Ability to identify trends, analyze issues, and assist with remediation efforts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive loan, borrower, and business information appropriately.
  • Mortgage closing, processing, disclosure, compliance, QC, post-closing, or funding experience.
  • Working knowledge of Encompass fields, workflows, business rules, custom forms, or system behavior.
  • Strong Excel skills, including filtering, sorting, formulas, and exception tracking.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and spot inconsistencies.
  • Comfortable researching loan-level issues and documenting findings.
  • Ability to work independently while escalating concerns when appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with regulatory monitoring activities and help assess potential operational impacts of regulatory, investor, agency, or internal policy changes.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute exception reporting to identify operational, compliance, system, or process-related trends.
  • Review high-leverage items, defects, and exceptions to help identify root causes and recommend appropriate remediation or process enhancements.
  • Assist with HMDA data review, data integrity monitoring, and reporting support.
  • Assist with NMLS Mortgage Call Report support, including data gathering, review, validation, and coordination with applicable business partners.
  • Support user acceptance testing for Encompass system changes, workflow updates, business rules, forms, fields, and change management initiatives.
  • Document testing results, defects, trends, and remediation steps in a clear and organized manner.
  • Partner with business units to research and resolve identified issues, exceptions, or control gaps.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with mortgage lending requirements, including TRID and other applicable federal, state, investor, and internal guidelines.
  • Prepare summaries, reporting, and supporting documentation for management review.
  • Track open items, follow-up actions, and remediation efforts to ensure timely completion.
  • Help evaluate whether process changes are functioning as intended and whether controls are effective.
  • Maintain organized records of reviews, testing, reporting, and business control activities.
  • Communicate findings professionally and clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Support special projects, audits, compliance reviews, and operational improvement initiatives as needed.
