About The Position

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a customer-focused Compliance Coding Auditor-Educator to serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for IHA offices and the Revenue Department on proper coding procedures and workflow for existing medical services. The role provides professional expertise and education in CPT, ICD, and HCC coding.

The position develops and leads medical record integrity audits, reports results using a standard process, investigates newly identified errors and their root causes, and provides corrective educational guidance through individual audit meetings with providers. It also maintains knowledge of relevant insurance, CPT coding, and diagnosis guidelines and trains IHA staff and providers on CPT, ICD-10, and HCC coding standards and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified Professional Coder or RHIT credential required.
• At least 2 years of experience in coding, reimbursement analysis, insurance issue resolution, and medical record auditing.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Auditor of HIM designation preferred.
• Previous experience with primary and multi-specialty care preferred.
• Health Information Management and data management experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead audit projects for medical record integrity.
• Report audit results using a standard reporting process.
• Identify new errors during audits, investigate them, and assess their root causes.
• Conduct one-on-one audit meetings with providers and provide corrective educational guidance.
• Maintain knowledge of and comply with relevant insurance, CPT coding, and diagnosis guidelines.
• Train IHA staff and providers on CPT, ICD-10, and HCC coding standards and procedures.
