About The Position

This recruitment is for Los Angeles County Public Works, the largest municipal Public Works agency in the nation with over 4,000 employees. This position involves planning and coordinating departmental audits, conducting financial, compliance, and operational audits, and reviewing accounting systems. The role also includes coordinating with external auditors, conducting internal investigations of suspected fraud, evaluating and recommending improvements to accounting systems and internal controls, and preparing written audit reports and management communications.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or a closely related field, including 21 semester units or 31.5 quarter units of accounting courses, including a course in auditing.
  • OPTION I: Two years of professional auditing experience at the level of the County class of Intermediate Accountant-Auditor.
  • OR OPTION II: Three years of professional accounting experience.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
  • Experience at the level of an Intermediate Accountant-Auditor in the service of County of Los Angeles is defined as: Conducts management, performance, financial, and compliance audits and other studies within a government, public sector, large-scale private sector organization, or non-profit organization. Work includes planning and conducting audits, analyzing operations and internal controls, and preparing reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Professional accounting experience is defined as: Complex and difficult assignments at a responsible level functioning as a lead or in a management capacity with extensive knowledge and experience of accounting processes and procedures.

Responsibilities
