Compliace Associate, New Grad

HIFINew York City, NY
Onsite

About The Position

This role is part of HIFI's New Grad Program — a structured 3-month contract designed to give early-career talent real ownership, real mentorship, and a real path to full-time employment. You won't be handed busywork. You'll be embedded in a team working on live infrastructure from day one, paired with a senior colleague who will support your growth, and evaluated for a full-time offer at the end of your contract. We're not looking for someone who has all the answers. We're looking for someone who asks the right questions, moves with urgency, and raises the bar every week they're here.

Requirements

  • Currently completing (expected graduation June 2026) or recently completed Bachelor's degree in Law (pre-law), Finance, Business, Political Science, Economics, Criminal Justice, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Strong research and writing skills — you can read dense regulatory material and communicate it clearly to non-experts
  • High integrity and discretion — you understand the weight of the work and treat sensitive information accordingly
  • Methodical and detail-oriented — in compliance, errors have real legal and reputational consequences, and you take that seriously
  • Curious about financial regulation, policy, and how rules shape the infrastructure of global money movement
  • Must be within commutable distance from our New York office and able to work in person most days of the week

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or coursework in compliance, legal, financial regulation, risk management, or a related field
  • Foundational familiarity with AML, KYC, OFAC sanctions, or BSA concepts
  • Exposure to fintech, crypto regulation, stablecoin policy, or cross-border payment compliance
  • CAMS certification in progress or a demonstrated interest in pursuing compliance credentials

Responsibilities

  • Support KYC/KYB onboarding reviews: collecting and verifying customer documentation, flagging issues, and coordinating resolutions
  • Assist with BSA/AML transaction monitoring and alert review under the guidance of senior compliance staff
  • Research regulatory developments across key jurisdictions — US (FinCEN, OFAC, state MSB), EU, and emerging markets — and summarize findings clearly
  • Help maintain and update compliance policies, procedures, and internal control documentation
  • Support preparation for audits, regulatory inquiries, and licensing processes by organizing materials and tracking action items

Benefits

  • Commuter benefits ($250 travel stipend)
