About The Position

The Schochet Companies are hiring a Compliance Assistant for Fresh Pond Apartments in Cambridge, MA. The Schochet Companies is a full-service real estate development and management company with an AMO designation. Fresh Pond Apartments is a family apartment community. This role involves performing administrative and customer service functions within the Compliance department, assisting with file tracking, processing income certifications, updating databases, and ensuring compliance with HUD and Federal Management standards.

Requirements

  • Professional certification in this field is necessary within a few months of beginning this position.
  • Excellent math skills are needed in order to calculate income and rent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent customer service, strong attention to detail, organization and strong follow through skills are also required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
  • Pre-employment background and drug test required.

Nice To Haves

  • One to three years of related job experience is helpful.
  • Experience in the affordable housing industry is preferred.
  • Yardi accounting software knowledge is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of administrative and customer service functions in accordance with the Compliance department.
  • Assist with tracking and reviewing files from property as assigned in keeping with time sensitive occupancy requirements.
  • Assist COS staff with file processing in accordance with company processing guidelines, process income certifications/recertifications for multiple affordable housing programs and update Yardi database.
  • Assist residents in completing, understanding and signing all documents related to housing assistance to ensure compliance with program rules.
  • Assist with collecting all necessary documents for tenant files. Files must follow HUD and Federal Management standards.
  • Ensure all necessary documents are in tenant files, up-to-date and in the correct order.
  • Organize current files and purge old documentation from files in accordance to rules and procedures as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Address tenant questions and issues as they arise.
  • Assist tenants with copies, leases, and rent questions as necessary.
  • Answer phone questions regarding the properties wait list and application questions.
  • Listen to and document tenant complaints regarding a variety of tenant issues including roommate and overcrowding concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned. Duties may vary by property.
