About The Position

This role assists in improving, reinforcing, and maintaining a company safety culture. The Compliance Analyst performs reviews of all accidents, injuries, and incidents, ensuring compliance with company record-keeping standards. They collaborate with the safety review team to determine preventability and ensure role-appropriate corrective action is assigned, completed, and documented. The position involves creating management reports on accident/incident trends, assisting with claims reporting and document production, and writing policy and/or procedure documents as assigned. A key responsibility includes performing Hours of Service (49 CFR 395) auditing/monitoring and issuing corrective action. The role also involves cross-training to understand and perform all aspects of safety and compliance, including driver qualification, equipment management, contractor onboarding, driver training, independent contractor relations, IFTA/IRP, and adherence to government regulations and company policies. Audits of any safety or compliance area will be performed, with results reported to management. The Compliance Analyst coordinates a training plan and strategy, assigns and monitors driver/staff training completion, and maintains training records. They work closely with Safety and Compliance staff to provide safety expertise and develop/present training materials. This role acts as the primary point of notification and contact for terminals regarding accidents, injuries, or incidents. The position requires protecting confidential information and staying updated on job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, networking, and organizations. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and the ability to work independently are essential competencies.
  • Ability to collect and analyze information created from reports and system, which also requires the ability to organize information into usable reports and graphs to aid in the management process.
  • Knowledgeable of government compliance standards and requirements.
  • Have or develop in depth knowledge of federal and state regulations for the transportation of goods, including but not limited to FMCSA, OSHA, and Hazardous Materials regulations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with safety review team when determining accident/injury/incident preventability.
  • Ensure role-appropriate (employees, temporary employees, independent contractors, subcontractors) corrective action is assigned, completed, and documented.
  • Create management reports of accident/incident trends.
  • Assists in claims reporting and document production as required.
  • Writes policy and/or procedure documents as assigned.
  • Performs Hours of Service (49 CFR 395) auditing/monitoring and issue corrective action as appropriate.
  • Cross-trains to understand and perform handling all aspects of safety and compliance, including the driver qualification process, equipment additions/deletions, Contractor on-boarding, Driver training, Independent Contractor relations, IFTA/IRP, compliance with government regulations and company policies and overall safety.
  • Performs audits of any safety or compliance area as assigned.
  • Report audit results to management.
  • Coordinates a training plan and strategy.
  • Assign driver/staff training as directed and monitor completion status.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Works closely with Safety and Compliance staff to promote and provide safety expertise and in the development and presentation of safety training materials.
  • Acts as the point of notification and main contact for terminals regarding any accident/injury/incident that could or has occurred regarding the terminal.
  • Protects Company and employee confidential information.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned
