This position reports to the Managed Compliance Services (MCS) Team Lead, but has responsibilities to all GridSME team members, managers, Directors, Practice Leads, and CEOs. GridSME is a growing company, and you may be asked to assist with additional projects beyond your regular job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Operations & Planning (O&P or “693”) technical experience developing policies and procedural documentation related to the CIP standards.
  • Experience following evaluation and planning improvements in business processes.
  • Strong desire to document processes and the ability to identify gaps and/or inefficiencies and recommend and execute improvements.
  • Timely outreach and response in communication with internal and external clients.
  • Negotiation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with various audiences and follow through on commitments.
  • Strong leadership, project management, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with clients who may have minimal knowledge of NERC Compliance and provide the appropriate level of information to assist in their knowledge-building.
  • The ability to assimilate information from disparate sources, ask thoughtful and meaningful questions and utilize the information to produce work products.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and task management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: ability to think strategically and work cost-effectively.
  • Proficiency with work management software (Microsoft Office Suite of products, task management software, compliance software, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Act as the client manager for GridSME Managed Compliance Services (MCS) clients.
  • Facilitate periodic meetings with client stakeholders.
  • Utilize NERC subject matter expertise to provide guidance and input to clients on various NERC Reliability Standards compliance needs, including best practices and various regional criteria.
  • Communicate with a client's compliance, engineering, operations personnel, operations and maintenance, and other service providers to develop, implement, and manage the client's NERC compliance program.
  • Act as a client's primary compliance contact with NERC and the Regional Entities.
  • Draft and update procedures, policies, attestations, memos, interpretations, and other documentation in support of a client's compliance program.
  • Review client programs, documentation, and evidence records to assess whether they are in the scope of the NERC Reliability Standards as they apply to the entity's registration.
  • Work closely with other internal GridSME resources to gather information, collaborate on projects, solicit expertise, and coordinate on all matters related to compliance program support.
  • Participate in industry-wide training and working groups (e.g., Regional Entities, WICF, CAISO, ERCOT working groups, etc.)
  • Maintain evidence repositories with high consistency and attention to detail, using and maintaining established conventions.
  • Develop, document, and facilitate the implementation of internal controls. Monitor implemented controls and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Review NERC and regional publications to stay apprised of industry news and developments, NERC Alerts, and Guidance and Implementation Plans to assess potential and actual impacts on each client's compliance program.
  • Perform periodic assessments and gap analyses of clients' compliance programs. Create reports which document the assessment results and recommendations.
  • Participate as a project team member, either as a project manager or subject matter expert.
  • Support development and mentorship of Compliance Analysts and Compliance Administrators within the Compliance team.
  • Continuously work to improve areas in need of focus and improvement within the NERC team.
  • Manage Redlines & Templates for the team.
  • Work with the team to connect with potential clients we can help.
  • Develop relationships and industry contacts to assist clients.
  • Help create work statements, place resources, and manage client relationships beyond your individual consulting efforts.
