About The Position

This role is for a Complex Claims Specialist in the A&E (Architects & Engineers) professional liability lines of business. The primary responsibility is to analyze liability claim submissions for potential coverage, set adequate case reserves, respond to customer and broker inquiries, and drive early resolution of claims. This is a hybrid position requiring two days per week in the office in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hartford, or Manhattan. Requirements

5+ years of experience with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission in good standing or 10+ years relevant experience.
A minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in the area of Architecture & Engineering and/or Professional Liability; coverage experience preferred.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong ability to establish rapport and build relationships with clients.
Team-oriented, with ability to excel in a collegial environment.
Adjuster licensing is required within 90 days of employment.

Prior experience with an insurance carrier preferred.

Experience attending and leading mediations, arbitrations and trials.

Commitment to professional development and learning demonstrated by at least 5 hours of continuing education related to insurance topics through Success Factory, Hiscox in-person or video conference training sessions, or other in-person seminars or webinars.

Responsibilities

Perform all core aspects of in-house claims management.
Review and analyze claim documentation and legal filings.
Draft coverage analyses.
Strategize and maximize early settlement opportunities.
Monitor litigation and manage local defense counsel.
Attend mediations and/or settlement conferences, either in person or by phone as appropriate.
Manage and track third-party vendor and service provider spend.
Continually assess exposures and adequacy of claim reserves.
Escalate high exposure and/or volatile claims to line manager.
Liaise directly on a daily basis with insureds and brokers.
Maintain timely and accurate file documentation/information in our claims management system.
