Requirements

• 8+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills
• Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process
• Experience attending and controlling cases- pre-suit, litigated and post trial- at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.
• Property and Casualty licenses required, must be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Handling large and complex Casualty claims in the industry.
• Investigation, evaluation, and disposition of new and existing 3rd party property and casualty claims.
• Reviewing coverage under Excess Commercial General liability and auto policies.
• Participating in the investigation of the claim and controlling litigation strategy.
• Directing litigation, attending mediations and trials, assessing liability and damages, and recommending reserves.
• Presenting large value cases to senior management.
• Communicating with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and claimants.
• Resolving claims in tough venues against elite plaintiff attorneys.
• Determining the scope and extent of available coverage.
• Preparation and execution of investigation strategies which identify critical issues affecting liability, causation and damages and assessment of risk transfer and contribution opportunities.
• Clear and concise communication and contact with internal and external customers, including insureds, brokers, and underwriters, to provide guidance and manage expectations.
• Proper documentation of exposure evaluation and resolution strategy.
• Presentation to senior management of claim disposition recommendations.
• Obtaining the appropriate authority to independently negotiate multimillion-dollar claims with the top plaintiff attorneys nationwide.
• Documenting evaluation, thought process, and strategy.
• Utilizing ADR as appropriate and necessary.
• Effectively strategizing and budgeting litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors, and insureds.
• Establishing with defense and coverage counsel clear ground rules to maintain financial control of budget and expenses.
