About The Position

Under general supervision, the Chart Completion Tech preps, scans, and validates all types of paper documents into an optical scanning system to obtain chart completion. This role is responsible for scanning and validating all loose reports sent to the department, analyzing medical records for deficiencies in chart documentation, and handling release of information for continuity of care requests. The position ensures adherence to HIPAA guidelines to minimize hospital liability in releasing records or protected health information. The Chart Completion Tech monitors incomplete charts and follows up with physicians, while also adhering to guidelines from The Joint Commission (JC) and Conditions of Participation, as well as all federal and state regulations. Other duties as assigned and needed are also part of this role.

Requirements

  • High School completion / GED
  • Medical Terminology (completion of course or enrollment)
  • 1 - 3 years of job-related experience
  • Experience in a Medical Office setting
  • Ability to read and write in order to review and maintain patient medical record charts, and perform basic mathematic calculations.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently in a medical office setting.
  • Problem-solving abilities and basic analytical skills necessary.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to type accurately at acceptable levels of speed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate, understand, interact, and respond to patients, physicians, and other personnel when obtaining and supplying routine factual medical record information via telephone or direct personal contacts on a daily basis.
  • Basic analytical skills necessary in order to determine work priorities, assist in problem resolution and recommend methods of improving workflow.

Responsibilities
