About The Position

Our YMCA has two very successful Swim Teams at both the Lansdowne and Ridley Area Branches. We are in need of a Competitive Swim Coach for our teams. Must be available Monday through Friday at 4pm and on weekends. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for participants in competitive swim programs. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 17 and/or prior or concurrent employment as a CYEDC lifeguard.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire.
  • Certifications: Current YMCA Lifeguard or American Red Cross Lifeguard or American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
  • Completion of required trainings

  • Competitive swim experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches all attend clinic, practice and meet sessions as assigned. Follows lesson plans/workouts as provided by the head coach. Performs coaching duties with Competitive Swim Coach II, Competitive Swim Coach III or Competitive Aquatic Director.
  • Supervises and accepts responsibility for the behavior of swim team members during practice sessions, swim meets and all other YMCA events. Coaches’ and swimmers’ behavior must exemplify the YMCA mission and core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement.
  • Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
  • Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
  • Attends clinics, workshops and staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
