About The Position
The Central Branch YMCA is looking for a part-time Swim Team Coach who will be responsible for developing the abilities of swimmers of various ages and diverse skill levels during the swim season. This role involves building effective relationships with members, swim participants, and parents, ensuring a safe and positive environment, and planning, directing, and attending all swim team practices, meets, and functions.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- 2 years of high school or the equivalent.
- Must have previous experience with competitive swimming as a coach and/or swimmer.
- Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
- Excellent human relations skills and enthusiasm.
- Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Nice To Haves
- Certification from the YMCA or other accredited association preferred (i.e., LGI and YMCA PYAL, etc.) or the willingness to become certified.
Responsibilities
- Build effective authentic relationships with members, swim participants and parents.
- Ensure a safe and positive environment for the swim team participants.
- Plan, direct, and attend all swim team practices, meets, and functions.
