Compensation & Total Rewards (Benefits) Manager

ArticleVancouver, BC
CA$120,000 - CA$140,000Hybrid

About The Position

As Article grows in complexity across our Vancouver HQ, Vietnam office, North American warehouses, and expanding retail store network, our compensation and benefits programs need to grow with us. This is our first-ever, dedicated compensation hire where you’ll have the opportunity to shape and build a more scalable approach to global rewards at Article. You’ll own our annual compensation cycle, salary benchmarking, compensation structures, and job architecture, while also leading the design and evolution of our benefits programs with our brokers and vendors. This is a hands-on ownership role, not an administration role. We’re looking for someone who has owned annual compensation cycles end-to-end and has experience working directly with benefits brokers and vendors on plan design, renewals, and balancing employee needs with business and budget considerations. You’ll be joining at an important time. Our annual compensation budget planning begins shortly, so you’ll have the opportunity to jump in and take ownership of meaningful work right away.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive compensation experience, including at least 2- 3 years owning an annual merit or compensation cycle end-to-end, including budget planning, governance, communication, and execution.
  • Hands-on salary benchmarking and market pricing experience, including direct relationships with compensation survey providers such as Radford, Mercer, Aon, or similar.
  • Experience building and maintaining salary structures using compensation survey and market data.
  • Experience designing compensation structures across multiple employee populations, including corporate, Retail/frontline, and hourly/Logistics roles.
  • Multi-country compensation experience, ideally including Canada and the US (we also have an office in Vietnam).
  • Experience with job architecture and leveling, including pricing new roles, maintaining a job catalogue, and applying a leveling framework consistently.
  • Benefits program ownership, including experience working directly with brokers and vendors on plan design, vendor selection, renewals, and negotiations in at least one market, ideally Canada or the US.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. You’ll be a primary point of contact for managers and employees on compensation policies and practices and will need to build credibility quickly.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills for compensation modeling and analysis.
  • Experience managing, extracting, and analyzing compensation and employee data within an HRIS. We use HiBob.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and translating them into clear recommendations and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support US or Vietnam stakeholder and vendor relationships.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • Completion of criminal background check.
