About The Position

The Compensation Analyst III administers and leads staff compensation and classification programs and complex projects for the University. Ensures compliance local, state(s), and federal laws. Analyzes and evaluates positions for appropriate titles, pay ranges, and organizational hierarchy to maintain external competitiveness and internal consistency. Provides guidance, trains, and/or may supervise to other Analysts. Provides guidance to HR Business Partners. The University of Alabama is embarking to transition the on-premises finance and HCM ERP systems to a modern cloud platform. This position is time-limited to the duration of the project due to additional department staffing needs while engaged in this project, but could lead to regular employment at the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of compensation experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of compensation experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, including faculty and staff.
  • Effective organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-directed, and detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with department representatives and employees at all levels on topics of varied complexity.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing compensation.
  • Advanced knowledge of current job markets and trends.
  • Expertise in compensation principles and practices.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and situations.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and applications.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Development.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience reviewing position descriptions for classification and FLSA status.
  • Experience in higher education.
