About The Position

This role involves developing analyses to support broad-based and executive compensation programs. Key responsibilities include financial analysis, considering shareholder value, understanding labor market insights, and analyzing compensation market trends. The position also supports the administration of the Long-Term Incentive Program (LTI) and assists in preparing materials for the Compensation and Talent Development Committee of the Southern Company Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field required.
  • 2 + years in an analytical role (compensation, finance, accounting, internal audit, etc.) required.
  • Must have strong MS Excel and PowerPoint experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling, data analysis, and executive-level presentation development.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving capabilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across a variety of audiences.
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates accountability for work quality and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of the Performance Pay Program (PPP) calculation model.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting financial and operational goal performance.
  • Develop scenario analyses and assess financial plan implications.
  • Support the preparation of monthly accruals and annual budget projections.
  • Assist with preparation of goal performance updates for Southern executives and the Board of Directors.
  • Provide analysis to support the development of operational and financial goals.
  • Support documentation of controls designed to validate the accuracy of year-end results.
  • Assist with coordination of executive approval of financial and operational goal results.
  • Support the development of analysis and presentation materials for the Compensation Committee.
  • Assist with the preparation of compensation-related disclosures in the annual proxy statement.
  • Support administration activities related to the stock-based compensation for the LTI program.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual Total Rewards Statements for executives.
