Requirements

  • High school diploma/certificate or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the local language.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical data/service manuals.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive bending tasks.
  • Ability to achieve required torque specifications per manufacturer's repair procedures.
  • Basic keyboarding skills.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, pull and /or otherwise move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must operate equipment in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, and test parts/equipment on construction equipment.
  • Use miscellaneous resources and computers to reference parts, get information about parts, and enter data into record systems.
  • Disassemble/re-assemble parts or equipment using tools; clean parts with rags, cleaners, and power washers.
  • Use test equipment to make diagnostic checks and control powered equipment or tools to make repairs.
  • Climb onto, under, and into vehicles to gain access to all parts of the vehicle.
  • Use overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts, and other aids to move items off vehicles and to locations for disassembly, repair, and reassembly.
  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, change oil, replace filters, belts, and coolants, and may drain/clean/refill fuel systems.
  • Use welders to weld frames and wear strips, then use power grinders to smooth welds.
  • Lift/carry and position rams to remove idlers, unbolt idlers, and remove them with an overhead crane.
  • Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint vehicles.
  • Use instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
