About The Position

Washington County is seeking a Community Wildfire Coordinator to lead wildfire mitigation, preparedness, and community planning efforts throughout the County's unincorporated areas. This position works closely with local fire districts, state and federal agencies, community leaders, and county departments to reduce wildfire risk and improve community resilience.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in emergency services, public administration, engineering, business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Three (3) years of experience in wildfire mitigation, emergency management, fire prevention, forestry, public safety, or a related field
  • Strong communication, project coordination, and public engagement skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs)
  • Manage wildfire mitigation projects and grant-funded programs
  • Lead community outreach, Firewise USA®, and preparedness education
  • Build partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies
  • Monitor wildfire conditions and support emergency management operations
  • Provide training, presentations, and technical guidance to communities and partner organizations
