About The Position

We are seeking an organized, mission-driven Community & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to strengthen and expand our corps of JFS volunteers. This role is responsible for onboarding, engaging, and supporting volunteers; facilitating community engagement initiatives; and maintaining accurate volunteer data and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, relationship-focused, and passionate about building meaningful community connections.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with or managing volunteers.
  • 1–2 years of customer service experience in a professional setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with public speaking.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time independently.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and initiative.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across teams and with external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and automobile insurance.

  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and experience working within the Jewish community.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard, and provide volunteer orientation for new and diverse potential volunteers.
  • Manage and retain active volunteers, and re-engage past participants.
  • Support and assist with planning volunteer appreciation events.
  • Lead or coordinate staffing for group volunteer opportunities.
  • Respond to volunteer inquiries via email and phone in a professional, timely manner with excellent customer service.
  • Organize and facilitate year-round engagement projects, including holiday basket deliveries, High Holy Day and Passover donation drives, the Backpack Drive, and other initiatives.
  • Present to community groups, schools, corporations, and service organizations about volunteer opportunities.
  • Represent the organization at community fairs, events, and meetings to increase awareness and build partnerships.
  • Support special projects for the CVE team, including administrative tasks and campus tours.
  • Contribute to volunteer communications and Volunteer Appreciation Month activities.
  • Maintain the volunteer database, ensuring accuracy in hours, qualifications, compliance documents, and in-kind contributions.
  • Track volunteer group hours across the agency and report measurable impact.
  • Ensure monthly volunteer hours are accurately submitted by all programs.
  • Complete monthly and annual reporting to maintain compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Perform ongoing database maintenance and ensure volunteer compliance documentation remains up to date.
  • Update department information across internal employee platforms.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as processing purchases, invoices, and reimbursements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
