About The Position
This position is for a Community Technician at Vanderbilt, working Tuesday-Saturday from 11pm-7:30am. The role involves assisting in monitoring a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a primary focus on maintaining a safe environment. The technician will engage individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner, perform rounds, and address the varied needs of residents. Key responsibilities include managing conflict and challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and trust-building. The role also requires screening residents and visitors, creating written documentation (logbook entries, incident reports, progress notes), managing supply inventory, maintaining fire safety drills and logs, providing emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN, assisting with inspections and audits, escorting clients, serving meals, and helping to maintain an orderly and clean facility. Related duties as assigned. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
- NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
- Basic computer literacy required.
- Effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
Nice To Haves
- NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
- Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license.
- Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
- Bilingual abilities a plus.
Responsibilities

- Assist with inspections and audits.
- Escort clients and serve meals as needed.
- Help maintain an orderly and clean facility.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Subject to mandatory overtime.
