About The Position

This per diem position involves monitoring a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness in Upper Manhattan. The role focuses on maintaining a safe and supportive environment, engaging residents with empathy, and addressing their needs. Responsibilities include conflict management, screening residents and visitors, documentation, inventory management, fire safety drills, providing emergency first aid/CPR/NARCAN, assisting with inspections, escorting clients, serving meals, and maintaining facility cleanliness. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license.
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Maintain a safe environment.
  • Engage individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner.
  • Perform rounds and address the varied needs of individuals.
  • Manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust.
  • Screen residents and visitors at the front door.
  • Create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Manage inventory for supplies.
  • Maintain fire safety drills and logs.
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed.
  • Assist with inspections and audits.
  • Escort clients and serve meals as needed.
  • Help maintain an orderly and clean facility.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Subject to mandatory overtime.
