About The Position

Inclusion Langley Society (ILS) has exciting opportunities for Casual Community Support Workers to join our Community Inclusion and Supported Living Services. In this role, you will provide meaningful, person‑centred support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping create inclusive, fulfilling lives within the community. Reporting to a Program Supervisor, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality supports by assisting with the implementation and ongoing review of personalized plans, promoting health and safety, and supporting access to community-based opportunities. Through your work, you will help create an environment where individuals are empowered, respected and supported to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in potentially high‑stress environments and apply positive behavioural support strategies and evidence‑based behavioural management principles to support safety, emotional regulation, and positive outcomes.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field; A combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Minimum one year of direct support experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with complex medical or behavioural needs
  • Strong understanding of community inclusion, person‑centered practices, and positive behaviour support strategies (training in behavioural intervention is an asset)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to remain professional, compassionate, and calm in high‑stress situations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to follow prescribed lifting, transferring, and behaviour support techniques
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts based on individual needs
  • Incumbents will be required to submit their availability for shifts by the 10th of each month and availability must meet the minimum requirements of 3 shifts/week
  • This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle (Class 4 an asset)
  • Valid Intermediate First Aid, Food Safe, and TB Health Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Community and home-based support opportunities (incl. 1:1 and group-based settings) aligned with individual service plans
  • Support participation in community, social, and recreational activities
  • Implement positive behavioural support and behaviour management strategies
  • Respond appropriately to challenging situations while maintaining safety and professionalism
  • Complete required documentation and follow organizational policies
