About The Position

DDA’s Day Programs deliver engaging, supportive, and meaningful experiences for adults of all ages and abilities. Our inclusive, community-based programs empower participants to pursue their personal goals by building independence, forming genuine connections, and enhancing quality of life through hands-on social, recreational, and vocational activities. The Developmental Disabilities Association is looking for passionate Community Support Workers (CSWs) who are ready to inspire and empower others. CSWs play an essential role in helping participants build vital life skills—social, emotional, physical, vocational, recreational, and daily living—while supporting them to thrive through meaningful onsite and community-based opportunities.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in an area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities, such as Social Sciences, Human Services, Therapeutic Recreation, or Education
  • 1 – 2 years of work experience with persons with disabilities
  • Must be able to safely support swim/water activities in community pools – includes entry into chlorinated water
  • Minimum availability of 2 shifts per week
  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Medical Clearance
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and use of a vehicle for work, OR a Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License
  • Driver’s Abstract showing a good driving record
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Requires physical strength, good balance, mobility, and endurance for recreational activities
  • Position involves assisting clients with personal care needs
  • Requires union membership

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging program environment
  • Work along side team members to support participants with activities of daily living
  • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of individualized goal plans
  • Lead engaging, person-centered programs tailored to diverse abilities
  • Provide services through on-site, community and outreach-based activities
