About The Position

The Community Support Specialist works one-on-one with individuals with disabilities providing support and coordination for activities of daily living such as: community participation, hobbies and recreational activities, banking and budgeting support, vocational training and searches, health safety and wellness, household management, and adaptive living skills. The CSS helps their clients maintain independence and participate in the community to the fullest extent possible (this is NOT a residential group home position).

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Reliable vehicle and current auto insurance.
• Ability to pass a background check through the MN Dept. of Human Services.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Comfortable and confident working independently without direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

• No experience needed (paid training provided).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities.
• Coordinate activities of daily living including community participation, hobbies, and recreational activities.
• Offer support with banking and budgeting.
• Assist with vocational training and job searches.
• Support health, safety, and wellness initiatives.
• Help with household management.
• Develop adaptive living skills.
• Assist clients in maintaining independence and community participation.
