As a non-profit community mental health center serving southeastern Jackson County, Missouri, we’re passionate about helping individuals impacted by mental illness or substance use find hope, support, and healing. About the Treatment Options Program: ReDiscover’s Treatment Options Program (TOP) provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for individuals with opioid use disorder, offering methadone and buprenorphine alongside counseling, group therapy, case management, and integrated mental health and nursing services. Community Support Specialists play a key role in supporting clients through their recovery journey by connecting them to resources, reinforcing treatment goals, and helping them build stability in their daily lives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or four (4) years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and a reliable, registered vehicle available for work use, including transporting clients.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and engage clients in a recovery-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2)+ years of experience in a substance use, behavioral health, or related setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and health/social service systems in the Kansas City metro area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and actively engage a caseload of clients receiving treatment for substance use disorders through in-person and phone interactions.
  • Support clients in progressing through recovery by reinforcing treatment goals, relapse prevention strategies, and overall stability.
  • Build trust with hard-to-engage clients and promote consistent participation in treatment services, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
  • Help reduce barriers to recovery by connecting clients to housing, employment, education, and other community supports.
  • Coordinate care and provide transportation to treatment appointments, including MAT services, using your personal vehicle as outlined in client treatment plans.
  • Document client progress, services, and interactions in the Carelogic electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical and clinical staff, to support continuity of care and positive treatment outcomes.
