About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided behavioral health services since 1971. Bright Beginnings is a Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Day Program that uses a clubhouse model to foster a sense of importance, ownership, and empowerment. The program supports participants in building self-esteem and self-confidence in a normalized, encouraging environment. Services focus on individual strengths, independent decision-making, and meaningful involvement in treatment goals to promote successful community reintegration. The Community Support Specialist - PRS role supports adults in the Bright Beginnings program by enhancing skills for recovery, independence, and community stability. This position provides structured psychosocial rehabilitation support and ensures timely, accurate service delivery.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counseling)
Six (6) months of related experience or completion of a behavioral health internship
Ability to register with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a QMHP-Trainee within 90 days
Valid Virginia Driver’s License
Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
