About The Position

The field of human services provides meaningful work where your contributions directly impact and support individual well-being and the development of inclusive communities. Calgary Alternative Support Services (CASS) values its employees and seeks to recruit and mentor human service professionals dedicated to disability advocacy and community engagement. This is a permanent, full-time position located in SE Calgary, working Mondays to Fridays from 08:30 to 16:30, with a total of 37.5 hours per week, and flexibility may be required. The Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) program assists individuals with developmental disabilities to become more independent through skill acquisition, empowerment, and full inclusion in society, thereby improving their quality of life. The CARS program emphasizes 'person-centered planning' based on individual needs, helping individuals identify support areas and personal goals through a self-directed process.

  • A current Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Search that is satisfactory to CASS. Additionally, all employees have an ongoing duty to disclose any charges or convictions that may occur during their employment with CASS

  • A vehicle and valid driver's license are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that program content and delivery processes conform to a high ethical standard, exemplary standards of practice, the Mission, Vision and Mandate of the Agency and the requirements of funding contracts.
  • Ensuring models of support are developed and provided for clients utilizing best practices and individualized planning.
  • Delegation, mentoring, supervising and evaluating the performance of frontline staff and contractors.
  • Establish respectful and professional boundaries while developing positive working relationships with front line staff and subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain a positive professional working relationship with client guardians and client supports where applicable.
  • Respond to a caseload of clients, available to clients in emergencies.
  • Develop Individual Support Plans (ISP) that are individualized and based on specific client needs, desires, and goals.
  • Recruit and screen to hire the appropriate supports to implement the goals established in that plan, ensuring proper training and personal attributes are identified for the needs of a given client.
  • Ensure client preferences are reached to the fullest extent possible.
  • Collaborate/communicate with family, guardians, and other necessary professionals.
  • Support relationships between clients, their support network, and other community members.
  • Input case notes into CASS database, PEAK.
  • Research community resources that can help support the client’s current desires and needs.
  • Maintaining up-to-date, accurate, thorough, and complete financial reporting of any client finances and purchases made on behalf of, or for, the client.
  • Provision of leadership, coordination and quality control in the design, delivery and monitoring of residential services.
  • Ensure program content and delivery processes conform to a high ethical standard, exemplary standards of practice, the Mission, Vision and Mandate of the Agency and the requirements of funding contracts.
  • Ensure all documentation is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff meetings for CASS and CARS.
  • Maintain all mandatory training.
  • Work closely with PDD.
  • Prepare individual funding proposal.
  • Submit ISPs and contracts.
  • Effective communication with PDD Service Coordinators.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager/designate and team; Provide regular updates regarding any changes / concerns pertaining to the caseload of clients.
  • Serve on agency committees as needed.
  • Manage and coordinate program activities and workshops.
  • Provide leadership in program planning and development.
  • Recruitment, hiring, supervision and evaluation of front line staff.
  • Ensure frontline staff/sub-contractors understand and follow agency policy and CASS standards of client service/employment requirements.
  • Perform annual evaluations for frontline employees.
  • Provide support and leadership to front line staff and sub-contractors.
  • Ensure proper training has been completed for all staff.
  • Model and demonstrate CASS values in all interactions with clients, staff, and community.
  • Demonstrate respect and collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback.
  • Conduct duties in a fair, ethical, transparent manner with honesty and integrity in accordance and familiarity with CASS Policies and Procedures, Code of Ethics for Rehabilitation Professionals, and other applicable professional bodies.
