About The Position

The Community Supervision Officer I will be responsible for assisting with the daily functions of the CSCD including supervising probationers/defendants under court-order community supervision in a manner that will reduce continued criminal conduct and promote successful rehabilitation. It will serve to assist probationers/defendants in maintaining a crime-free lifestyle, by effectively managing and positively motivating, enforcing compliance with court orders, responding quickly to violations, employing a progressive-sanctions model and applying evidence-based practices to supervision strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must pass State certification within one year of employment.
  • Meets and maintains CJAD training hour requirement.
  • Valid driver’s license and liability insurance.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to stay organized and know how to prioritize the workload.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competency with computers and Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Advanced analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CJAD Standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Department Policies and Procedures.
  • Skilled at interviewing and assessing risk and criminogenic need.
  • Skilled in developing supervision plans.
  • Proficient with relevant CSCD information systems including but not limited to CSCD’s electronic case management system(s) and Microsoft Office Software.
  • Effective Communication.
  • Dedication to quality development within the CSCD.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Investigative skills.
  • Willingness to accept and promote change.
  • Flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Meets regularly with probationers/defendants to ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions
  • Conducts state-mandated risk assessments and other assessments as appropriate, to determine probationers’/defendants’ needs.
  • Conducts home and field visits to monitor probationers’/defendants’ behavior in the community.
  • Maintains case management files and documents all interactions with probationers/defendants.
  • Prepares violation reports and modifications, attends necessary court proceedings, and testifies as needed.
  • Maintains records in compliance with State standards, grant conditions, and department policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with referral agencies and victims as needed.
  • Completes presentence investigations reports.
  • Runs computerized criminal history reports, orders arrest reports, and conducts drivers’ license checks.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
