Reporting to the associate dean in the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students (ODUS), the community standards coordinator assists the deputy dean and associate dean with coordination of undergraduate disciplinary matters. ODUS processes an average of 230-330 disciplinary cases annually, heard by the Residential College Disciplinary Board (RCDB), the Faculty-Student Committee on Discipline (COD), or the Honor Committee. The coordinator assists in the preparation and tracking of disciplinary case files, including assembling all electronic documents, ensuring that all documentation is included, accurately organizing the files, and redacting where appropriate. The coordinator also uploads and maintains electronic files and record keeping, tracks and distributes Public Safety reports and other documents, and provides records to the deans upon request. Additionally, the administrative coordinator handles scheduling of COD hearings, assists during weekly RCDB meetings, ensures accurate record keeping, and assists with collecting annual statistics and drafting discipline reports. The position includes financial responsibilities, in that the coordinator tracks and manages requests for funding from the Dean’s Emergency Fund. The coordinator also organizes the dean-on-call and Residential Living Coordinator on-call schedules and provides general office support for ODUS. The Coordinator may also be assigned other duties as required. The key characteristics of the coordinator are the ability to work under time pressure and balance competing deadlines, attention to detail, and time management. This position requires a high level of discretion regarding students’ confidential disciplinary records. The coordinator will occasionally communicate directly with students and must be able to respond in a tactful and sensitive manner to a variety of situations involving students, as well as other tasks as required by the department.
