About The Position

AdaptAbilities provides meaningful programs for children and youth with disabilities. They have been named a 2025 Canadian Nonprofit Employer of Choice (NEOC) Award Recipient. This is a part-time permanent role based in the Edmonton area, focusing on delivering engaging, meaningful programming that fosters genuine relationships and a strong sense of belonging among participants. The position requires availability every Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for the in-home adult program. The Community Specialist (CS) reports to the assigned Program Supervisor and acts as an ally and ambassador, working on the front lines to create a safe, caring, and community-enriched life for individuals and families. Thoughtful program planning and implementation support participants in connecting with their communities, establishing real relationships, and creating meaningful days and lives. The CS will act with integrity, be open to growth, live the purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth extraordinary effort to empower people with diverse abilities and their families.

Requirements

  • Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and little or no work-related experience.
  • Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values
  • Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required upon hire
  • Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
  • Medical Administration certification is a requirement
  • The candidate must have a vehicle to get to and go home from work
