About The Position

The Community Services Department is currently hiring a part-time Community Service Specialist to join the Event and Rentals team at The Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. This position is dedicated to ensuring that every individual who enters the venue feels welcome and valued. By providing sincere service and intentional hospitality, our team members are committed to fostering a welcoming environment that reflects the values of the City of Rancho Cucamonga’s Community Services Department. The Lewis Family Playhouse is an intimate, state-of-the-art performing arts center with 560 seats owned and operated by the City of Rancho Cucamonga. As a major anchor to the Victoria Gardens Lifestyle Shopping Center, the Lewis Family Playhouse educates, entertains, and ignites the imagination through high-quality performances for children, families, and audiences of all ages throughout Southern California. In addition to the Lewis Family Playhouse, the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center includes a 60-seat Black Box theatre, large-scale event spaces, and a newly opened outdoor courtyard stage! The Community Services Department operates the Epicenter Sports Complex, RC Family Resource Center, RC Sports Center, Victoria Gardens Cultural Center, Goldy S. Lewis Community Center, and James L. Brulte Senior Center. In addition to the above-listed facilities, more than 30 different parks are open to the community for passive use and the City has park shelters, hiking trails, athletic fields, and city-planned recreational and special events. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Have an education equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience in the coordination of cultural or recreation programs or activities or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and programs common to the field of Recreation, and cultural arts; methods for identifying community recreation needs.
  • Ability to effectively work with people having varied socio-economic standings
  • Ability to prepare concise written and oral reports
  • Ability to promote recreation or cultural programs
  • Ability to supervise volunteers.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • First Aid and CPR certification are required within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting a process to seek out and steward rental clients.
  • Manage public and private rental inquiries with prompt response and follow-up times.
  • Generating quotes, tracking budgets, completing reports and rental permits.
  • Event and client management the day of a rental.
  • Schedule and guide facility tours.
  • Manage and delegate weekday/weekend supervision of part-time staff.
  • Work closely with the technical staff to facilitate theater rentals.
  • Learn city systems such as Active Net and When to Work
  • Overseeing the daily tasks of part-time staff and volunteers, lifting/moving tables, chairs, and other equipment appropriate for various programs/events.
  • Assist the Rentals Coordinator with creating staff schedules, monitoring vendor contracts and insurance, and other duties as assigned, specifically related to the administration and oversight of programs and events.
