About The Position

The Community Schools Facilitator I (CSFI) will serve as a liaison between families, staff, and community partners to establish an integrated student support system aimed at removing learning barriers. The CSFI will collaborate with Kinney High School’s Community School Facilitator and Prospect Community Day School support staff to form a cohesive team dedicated to building trusting relationships with students and their families. Key responsibilities include fostering and expanding community partnerships to address family needs, conducting in-home visits to enhance communication and understanding of students and families, and working with educators and families to improve student attendance, family engagement in school events, and home-based learning support. The role also involves leading Parent Cafés and other family engagement initiatives to build connection and leadership, recruiting and supporting family participation in the School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), and assisting families in understanding opportunities to influence school decisions. Additionally, the CSFI will implement the requirements of the 5-year CCSPP grant and contribute to the ongoing development of the Community School model. The position emphasizes the importance of strong school-family partnerships in empowering families as advocates for their children, fostering confidence, and supporting academic success and on-time graduation. The Facilitator is expected to be committed to equity, possess extensive community engagement experience in diverse communities, and understand the California Community Schools Partnership Program.

Requirements

Two (2) or more years of community engagement experience in culturally diverse communities, preferably in Rancho Cordova.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Bilingual and bicultural preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to mediate and de-escalate conflict.
Ability to work flexible hours (occasional evening, weekends, and school vacation work).
Strong community ties preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
Experience with diverse communities that represent various racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups required.
Excellent judgment, networking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of the fundamentals of the California Community Schools Partnership Program.

Responsibilities

Serve as the bridge between families, staff, and community partners to create an integrated student support system that removes barriers to learning.
Partner with Kinney High School’s Community School Facilitator and key Prospect Community Day School support staff to create a cohesive team.
Build and maintain trusting and mutually respectful relationships with scholars and their families.
Support and grow community partnerships to help meet the needs of families.
Engage in in-home visits to improve communication, enhance understanding of the student and family, and gain greater insight to support school performance.
Work with teachers, staff, and families to increase student daily attendance, family engagement at school functions, and support learning at home.
Lead Parent Cafés and other family engagement opportunities that build connection, leadership, and partnership with families.
Recruit and support family participation in School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).
Help families understand opportunities to contribute to school decisions.
Implement the requirements of the 5-year CCSPP grant.
Support the ongoing development of the Community School.
Support the implementation of a year-round Community Schools model at a designated Title I school site.
Work closely with students, staff, and families to implement the four pillars of Community Schools.
Connect families and school staff with agencies and non-profit programs.
Pursue partnerships that will address attendance, behavior, physical and/or mental health challenges.
Support the implementation of systems to connect families with basic resources needed to remove barriers to learning, wellness, and on-time graduation.
Promote a strengths-based, whole child focused, and culturally responsive school-wide culture.
Actively connect with low income, English Learner, and racially diverse youth and their families.
