This position is available at Murphy Elementary School and Peres Elementary School. The Community School Coordinator will provide leadership and vision to the program in collaboration with administration and other school staff, youth and families, community members, and the school district's community school initiative. They will conduct ongoing needs/hopes assessment to identify gaps in programs and services, as well as capacity and assets. The role involves establishing, nurturing, and managing quality internal and external partnerships to create an integrated service delivery system that supports student success and wellness. They will utilize data from needs assessment and cultivate new partnerships that address service gaps. The coordinator will develop and co-facilitate Coordination of Services/CARE Team meetings with providers and school administration to ensure services are provided efficiently. Responsibilities include monitoring project outcome goals, administrative tasks such as designing systems, record keeping, and report writing and submission. The role also supports grant writing and resource development to sustain program services, builds alliances and identifies resources among local community groups and agencies, and completes other duties as assigned. Additionally, the coordinator will collect and analyze literacy-specific data to inform school-wide literacy efforts and integrate literacy, STEAM, and family engagement goals into the Community School Implementation Plan. The position also involves serving as an advocate for the needs and interests of the school’s staff, students, and their families, participating in advocacy efforts for educational equity and social justice, and championing equitable access to literacy resources, STEAM programs, and family engagement opportunities. Advocacy for sustainable funding, policy support, and community investment in literacy and STEAM initiatives is also a key component.
