About The Position

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Educator - Limited Term Agreement (LTA). The CRR Educator - LTA is the front-line teaching professional within the Community Risk Reduction Division, responsible for analyzing community risk data and using it to plan, develop, and directly deliver targeted, evidence-based fire and life safety education programs to the populations and settings where data identifies the greatest need. The CRR Educator works collaboratively with CRR Team members and Fire Department staff to ensure that programs are grounded in data and measurably reduce fire, injury, and life safety risks for the residents, businesses, and visitors of Gilbert. The CRR Educator - LTA reports to the CRR Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Public Health, Fire Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in public safety, community education, social work, public relations, or marketing involving public contact.
  • Some (6 months – 1 year) experience and/or training in public speaking.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work will be considered for the experience requirement only.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside traditional office hours.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations, newsletters, program updates, and informational communications to public groups, community organizations, civic groups, healthcare providers, and department stakeholders.
  • Serve as a public information resource on fire and life safety, injury prevention, and emergency preparedness; connect residents and organizations with programs, referral services, and safety resources.
  • Build and sustain working relationships with schools, community organizations, faith communities, healthcare providers, congregate care facilities, and neighborhood associations to ensure safety education reaches the broadest and most diverse audiences possible.
  • Plan, develop, schedule, manage, and deliver fire and life safety education programs and CRR curriculum tailored to identified risk populations, including congregate care residents, seniors, school-age youth, families, businesses, and the general public, with a primary emphasis on fall prevention, fire and life safety, and emergency preparedness.
  • Facilitate CPR/AED training courses; coordinate scheduling, instructor coverage, equipment maintenance, and certification recordkeeping.
  • Create presentations and program materials using audio-visual, computer-based, photographic, and hardware-based technologies to support CRR outreach campaigns.
  • Collaborate with CRR Team members, Fire Department staff, and other Town departments to achieve division goals; assist the CRR Manager with program implementation, scheduling, and coordination as directed.
  • Collect, analyze, and apply community risk data, incident reports, and demographic information to identify high-risk populations, priority program areas, and target delivery settings; use findings to evaluate program effectiveness and support leadership briefings.
  • Track, document, and enter all program activity data accurately into designated databases and records management systems; ensure all classes and events are properly logged for accreditation and quality assurance.
