About The Position

JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Summer Community Relations Intern to support our philanthropic programs, nonprofit partnerships, internal communications, and grant tracking efforts. This internship offers meaningful, hands-on experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR), nonprofit engagement, and digital content management within a leading wine organization. The intern will work closely with the Community Relations Manager to support day-to-day operations, maintain internal platforms, track community impact, and help tell the story of JUSTIN’s community investments. In addition to core responsibilities, the intern will gain exposure to the broader organization through cross-functional collaboration and immersive experiences across the winery and vineyard. This 8-week internship is based in Paso Robles, CA and requires on-site availability from Monday to Friday.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Business, Agricultural Communications, or related fields.
  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Interest in community engagement, philanthropic work, CSR, or local nonprofit ecosystems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Excel, Canva, or basic content management tools (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the Community Relations SharePoint site to ensure content is accurate, timely, and engaging.
  • Upload new events, nonprofit updates, impact spotlights, and photos.
  • Draft short-form content for internal audiences.
  • Assist in producing the quarterly Community Relations newsletter, including drafting stories, formatting content, and gathering visuals.
  • Help maintain a centralized system for tracking community grant reports from nonprofit partners.
  • Log submitted reports, images, deadlines, and impact metrics.
  • Follow up with nonprofits to request missing reports, photos, or updated project information.
  • Support compiling community impact data for internal presentations or seasonal summaries.
  • Research local nonprofits aligned with community grant pillars: food access, education, youth arts, agriculture, and sustainability.
  • Maintain an updated list of nonprofit partners, upcoming events, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Assist with general research on CSR best practices and employee volunteer engagement.
  • Draft spotlight stories featuring grant recipients, community events, or volunteer activities.
  • Collect quotes, impact stats, and anecdotal updates from nonprofit partners.
  • Provide writing support for internal updates or recaps.
  • Create a concise internal impact report or slide deck summarizing the summer’s events, grant activity, nonprofit stories, and collected images.
  • Present findings to Community Relations leadership at the end of the term.
