About The Position

The Community Relations Intern will assist with the coordination and promotion of programs and activities in community relations and the BCBSLA Foundation to support health in communities across Lafayette. Duties include: Work in Microsoft Excel (managing event details) and Outlook (checking emails and sending out calendar reminders about events) Learn how to pull and enter information in Blackbaud Gifts, our CRM for corporate sponsorships. Access community impact, Secretary of State verify, IRS Tax Status verify, and Guidestar verify all incoming corporate sponsorship applications for the Lafayette area. Coordinate and attend sponsored events and hand out giveaways and marketing material for Blue Cross. It also may include hauling 10x10 tents and other large items. Communicate with nonprofits to help setup phone calls, meetings, and events. Draft monthly emails to recruit volunteers Interns will be reimbursed for gas expenses to events outside of the Lafayette area

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in any field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 minimum.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Strong ability to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational and analytical ability, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities concurrently.
  • Good energy and willingness to learn.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to a changing work environment and team-oriented.
  • Current students must be able to work 15 – 20 hours per week during their Spring and Fall semesters and 30 -40 hours per week during the Summer.
  • Recent graduates must be able to work 30 – 40 hours per week year round.
  • Must be able to commute to/provide your own housing in Lafayette, LA.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for Louisiana Blue in the United States without employer-sponsored immigration support.

Nice To Haves

  • Residency in or relocation to Louisiana is preferred.
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Kinesiology, Public Administration, Political Science, Health Promotion/Education, Health Administration, Public Health, Health and Human Services or related field is preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Work experience or previous exposure in degree fields is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access is a plus.
