About The Position

Receives and processes requests from referring community physicians and clinics, coordinating visits, tests, and procedures within the timeframe considered necessary by the referring physician and specialist. Schedules post-hospitalization discharge follow-up appointments, tests, and procedures within the requested timeframe. Coordinates necessary appointments while maintaining excellent patient relations and ensuring compliance with physician discharge orders. Promotes use of UMMC/UMP physicians as referral sources. Coordinates timely patient care while accounting for the need for multiple visits. The role requires the ability to stay focused, work independently, and complete accurate, timely, and productive work. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in patient scheduling and registration in a healthcare setting.
• At least 2 years of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Make outbound call attempts to patients following Referral Specialist standard work.
• Use system protocols to schedule patients appropriately and support collection of expected payment.
• Use the escalation workflow when clinic access prevents a patient from being seen within the recommended timeframe.
• Ensure patients obtain appointments with the desired or appropriate specialty.
• Manage hospital discharge orders by arranging appointments, tests, and procedures as indicated.
• Manage MyChart messages and online appointment requests.
