About The Position

The Referral Specialist ensures patients receive timely, coordinated care and serves as a primary point of contact for patients and referring providers. The role manages complex scheduling, verifies insurance information, and facilitates authorization processes. Daily work includes handling a high volume of incoming calls and patient registrations, verifying patient demographics and insurance coverage for billing accuracy, resolving pre-certification, registration, and case-related concerns before appointments, and completing referrals for ancillary, consultation, radiology, and laboratory visits. Referral work includes checking insurance coverage, requesting approval and receiving confirmation, scheduling appointments, and notifying patients of progress.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• At least two years of experience in a medical office or other healthcare environment.
• Basic computer skills, including Excel, Outlook, and Windows-based programs.
