About The Position

Plans, coordinates, and implements community-based programs including, but not limited to Indigent Cremation/Burial, Prescription Assistance, and Health Care Responsibility Act (HCRA) and services that enhance the quality of life for county residents. This position works closely with community partners, nonprofit organizations, and county departments to deliver outreach initiatives, public education programs, and community engagement activities. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills and involves regular interaction with residents, community groups, and local stakeholders.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Social Work, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in community outreach, customer services, or public service preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • High school diploma and four (4) years of human or social services program management may be substituted for bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Program management and implementation including receiving, logging, and reviewing client applications for assistance programs.
  • Determines program eligibility using income and asset guidelines.
  • Provide information, assistance and referrals to residents.
  • Support community engagement efforts including workshops, public meetings, and outreach events.
  • Maintain program records, attendance data, and basic program performance reports.
  • Collaborate with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and other county departments to support program goals.
  • Develop and track annual program budget.
  • Monitors monthly program expenditures in adherence to annual budget guidelines and requirements.
  • Program evaluation.
  • Community engagement. Represents the organization to external partners and community members.
  • Acts as a liaison for citizen committee(s).
  • Maintains program ledgers and prepares monthly reports as required.
  • Coordinates with other individuals and organizations to exchange information and provide referrals and assistance.
  • Maintains a professional and safe unit and work area adhering to established safety policies and the image desired for the organization.
  • Follows consistently the Board policies and procedures.
  • Responds productively to change and performs all other related tasks as directed.
  • Responsible for administrative duties in support of the Community Programs department as needed.
