About The Position

MCAR, Inc. is seeking dedicated employees for its Habilitative Aide Program to provide services that improve the quality of life for people with special needs in Mercer County. This role involves providing direct supervision in a 1:1 community setting, adhering to Community Participation guidelines, and serving as an implementor for individual's goals per their annual ISP. Responsibilities include computer-based charting, data entry, payroll and attendance tracking, and other required documentation. Work is reviewed by the Community Participation Program Director and Transitional Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Ability to work effectively with people and aid them to grow in the constructive use of their potential in adjusting to their specific problems or disability.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Individuals, family members, and other staff.
  • Basic knowledge of developmental disabilities and its social and emotional impact.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
  • Ability to make sound judgment regarding the health and safety of persons with developmental disabilities and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision in a 1:1 community setting.
  • Adhere to Community Participation guidelines established through MCAR, Inc. and the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP).
  • Serve as an implementor for individual's goals per annual ISP.
  • Complete computer-based charting (Therap) and data entry, including payroll and attendance.
  • Complete time sheets and other required documentation.
  • Administer emergency CPR and first aid utilizing universal precautions as needed.
  • Complete the process for administering prescribed medications to individuals supported across all approved locations within the program.
  • Complete Community Participation approved activities with the supported individuals.
  • Complete daily computer entry of charting and progress notes.
  • Assist Individuals with personal care needs.
  • Provide instruction, demonstration, and hands-on training as needed.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for Individuals to complete available sub-contract and day activities.
  • Count, record, and monitor finished product for quality control.
  • Monitor Individuals' problems/concerns, referring to Transitional Coordinators as needed.
  • Responsible for record-keeping, attendance at staff and other meetings, and annual ISP reviews.
  • Participate in a minimum of 24 hours of annual in-service training.
  • Assist in arrival/departure logistics.
  • Assist Individuals during lunch and break times.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
