About The Position

The Direct Support Facilitator has the goal of helping build great lives for the individuals, their families and the community we serve by fostering an enriching and responsive community participation environment. Working as members of a larger connection of supports, Direct Support Facilitators – Community Participation will collaborate with other staff members to implement meaningful development plans and programming/activity schedules that flow from a client centered philosophy.

Requirements

  • DSW, SSW or Social Sciences degree or diploma in a related field.
  • Strong commitment to the individuals supported by Community Living Hamilton
  • Positive attitude and a true appreciation for diverse abilities
  • A valid driver’s licence, clean driver’s abstract and access to a reliable vehicle to facilitate travel to various sites
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Valid NVCI Certification
  • Advocating for Others: Helping builds understanding and awareness to remove barriers and achieve inclusion.
  • Working with Others: Communicating to reach understanding in others and yourself and then working together to meet shared goals.
  • Creativity, Problem Solving & Decision Making: Understanding a situation, exploring options and making the best choice to achieve success.
  • Helping Others Achieve: Providing support and guidance to others, building on strengths and encouraging others to work towards their goals.

  • Resilience: Continuing, even in difficult situations and being willing to take a stand for what is right

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years recent experience working with adults with a developmental disability preferred.
