About The Position

Medavie Health Services West (MHSW) is seeking a Casual Community Paramedic (CP) for Crestvue. The CP will work with primary health care providers and be mobile in the community, providing care to patients in their homes or community settings. This includes non-emergency calls and regularly scheduled visits. The CP will operate independently in a response-capable vehicle, responsible for direct patient care, advanced assessment, consultation, and treatment. The role requires independent critical thinking, adherence to scope of practice, and teamwork with direct medical oversight. The CP will also identify and coordinate additional health care resources for patient treatment and act as a liaison with physicians, nurses, and the medical community. Occasional duties as a licensed Paramedic may be required, including emergency and non-emergency responses and inter-facility transfers, as well as maintaining and operating ambulances and related equipment. Clinical expectations are based on the National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP), Saskatchewan College of Paramedics registration requirements, and Medavie Health Services West policies.

Requirements

  • Must meet all legislated requirements for Advanced Care Paramedics in Saskatchewan.
  • Must be currently registered with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics as an Advanced Care Paramedic.
  • Must submit with resume a copy (front and back) of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
  • Must submit with resume current ACLS, ITLS, and CPR C certification for Health Care Providers.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 60 days) valid and clean criminal record check along with a vulnerable sector check.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 30 days) driver’s abstract.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record.
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality.
  • Must have excellent work habits and exhibit professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, incorporating advanced assessment, consultation, and treatment.
  • Execute independent critical thinking skills to deliver appropriate care consistent with scope of practice.
  • Work effectively in a team with direct medical oversight.
  • Determine the most appropriate additional health care resources required for continuing patient treatment.
  • Act as a liaison with physicians, nurses, and the greater medical community in meeting patient needs.
  • Occasionally perform duties in relation to ability and scope as a licensed Paramedic.
  • Perform emergency and non-emergency responses and inter-facility transfers.
  • Maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.
