League City Animal Care’s Community Outreach - Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing the animal shelter's volunteer program. This position implements community outreach initiatives that support the growth of the volunteer program, the shelter's mission, daily operations, and the public image of the City's Animal Care Center. The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the shelter and volunteers, as well as sharing duties as liaison for community partners, schools, nonprofit organizations, and the general public with the other members of the Community Outreach team. This position is an active member of the shelter team, working alongside team members to support the daily functions of the shelter and ensure efficient, high-quality service. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for training volunteers in the safe handling of shelter animals using positive reinforcement techniques and must be comfortable working directly with dogs, cats, and other animals on a daily basis. The Coordinator also trains volunteers on proper kennel cleaning and sanitation procedures, so candidates must be willing to learn and teach approved cleaning and disinfecting protocols. The Coordinator recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises volunteers while working collaboratively with the other members of the Community Outreach team to coordinate events, increase community engagement, support adoptions, or other programs that support the work of League City Animal Care. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to lead and train others, and a passion for animal welfare and community service. Duties and responsibilities may be modified at any time to meet the needs of the organization.
