About The Position

The Community Outreach Manager is responsible for ensuring the school is engaging with stakeholders proactively and effectively. This is accomplished by developing partnerships with students, families, community members, businesses, philanthropic and community service entities, civic leaders, and other stakeholders who influence and are influenced by the work of the school.

Requirements

  • Ability to use data to drive decision making, issue resolution, and strategy development
  • Knowledge around community organizing and outreach strategies and practices
  • Experience planning and facilitating meetings, identifying community needs, working with community leaders and volunteers of diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of the urban school communities preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a school setting
  • Experience developing messaging and marketing materials
  • Experience working with various community organizations and local officials preferred
  • Experience utilizing online networking and web development preferred
  • Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull.
  • Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height
  • Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
  • Demonstrate normal depth perception
  • Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aides
  • Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Develop an outreach strategy for the school with the goal of learning more about local community needs and partnership opportunities
  • Develop key messages and communication to communities about the school’s mission and vision
  • Develop accessible mechanisms for community members to voice questions, concerns, and ideas for how the school can better serve them
  • Organize and coordinate community events that further the school’s outreach strategy
  • Represent the school site, with support from the Principal, in building an effective school community
  • Working with parents to better support their child/children’s academic, behavioral, and social development
  • Garnering support from community groups and leaders
  • Developing positive relationships with external partnerships
  • Working in collaboration with the Principal and Home Office to achieve site and organizational goals
  • Supporting the development and operation of the School Site Council, English Language Advisory Council, and other stakeholder engagement groups
  • Serve as a liaison between school and families in matters related to recruitment and enrollment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
