About The Position

This is routine work involving direct services to underprivileged, medically indigent, unemployed or underemployment individuals and persons requiring family planning services. An employee in this class explains available services to qualified individuals and encourages them to utilize these services. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures of the agency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year work experience
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures of own agency.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a firm and effective manner involving departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with associates and others.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Visits prospective patients in their homes to inform them of services provided in health clinics or family planning centers.
  • Provides patient education by lecturing, distributing health related materials and by discussing health matters with neighborhood residents.
  • Assists as aides in medical and family planning clinics.
  • Encourages the medically indigent to seek preventive care and to obtain care early in an illness, through referral to clinics.
  • Assists in routine service functions in assigned office or center.
  • Delivery of meals to clients.
  • Monitoring congregate and meal preparation sites.
  • Securing funds collected by the Elderly Nutrition Program.
  • Determine nutritional needs and demands of clients being serviced.
  • Transferring data to fulfillment.
