About The Position

Haven Studios is seeking a Community Manager to contribute to the development and execution of player engagement strategies for our games. As a member of the Player Experience and Community team, you will build strong connections with players through thoughtful and authentic interactions. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between our community and our development teams: establishing effective feedback loops, escalating player feedback, and helping to translate that feedback into tangible improvements for our game. You will represent Haven and our game to players, while collaborating closely with Creation, Marketing, Live Ops, and our partners at PlayStation to support our player experience and foster a vibrant, engaged, and inclusive community. You will also contribute to Creator Community and Influencer initiatives, helping to build strong relationships with creators participating in our dedicated program. This includes supporting creator communications, promotions, feedback collection, and community engagement initiatives to drive player excitement and build advocacy for our games. You possess a strong ability to analyze community feedback and player sentiment, leveraging data to make decisions that drive player engagement and retention. You are a creative, resilient, and adaptable problem-solver, a confident communicator, and an ingenious and savvy community leader who brings positive energy, enthusiasm, and determination to every interaction. In May 2021, we embarked on a journey to start Haven Studios with a small team and big ambitions. Our goal was to build a studio where we could make the kind of games we’ve always wanted to create – and games we’ve longed to play. We established a culture at Haven grounded in kindness, adaptability and courage that unlocks creativity. Our first new IP for PlayStation is on track to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years. Haven joined the PlayStation Studios family in 2022, and we are on track to build an exclusive new IP for Playstation and grow the first Sony game development team in Canada. We are looking for a Community Manager, to lead the execution of Haven’s communications strategy and community initiatives. In this role, your job is to tell the Haven story and relentlessly pursue excellence in all communications with media, employees, candidates, partners, gamers and Sony. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, is a team player and knows how to engage both internal and external audiences.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in community management, player retention, creator relations, or similar roles.
  • Experience building active communities across multiple platforms, regions, and diverse audiences.
  • Experience supporting creators, influencers, ambassador programs, or community advocacy initiatives.
  • Previous experience in player moderation and managing conversations in a digital/online environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A genuine passion and strong taste for multiplayer games.
  • Demonstrated success in a communications or community manager role in the games industry or at an agency.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English. Strong storytelling skills are required.
  • An understanding of integrated earned and social media campaign needs related to social and digital platforms.
  • Mastery of various social media platforms with demonstrated track record of driving engagement and growing followership on LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok etc.
  • Experience setting and tracking social media and communications KPIs.
  • Deep knowledge of the video games market as well as the local Montreal industry an asset.
  • An unwavering positive attitude to opportunities and challenges in an ever-changing, entrepreneurial environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing large-scale, highly active multiplayer communities.
  • Experience collaborating with content creators, influencers, or in creator programs within the video game industry.
  • Proficiency in French and English.
  • Post-graduate diploma in Public Relations, Corporate Communications or related discipline.
  • Experience creating and editing video content.
  • 5+ years in a Marketing or PR Agency.
  • Experience leading internal and external communications functions.
  • Strong passion for games and pop culture with broad knowledge of current and past industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Senior Community and Influencer Manager, develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy that supports and aligns with our player experience and marketing efforts, fosters the development of a welcoming and inclusive community, and ensures player-centric communication.
  • Maintain a dialogue with our players by actively participating in discussions in a manner that reflects our studio values: kindness, adaptability, excellence, and unwavering optimism.
  • Coordinate with the development team to establish and activate player feedback loops, with the goal of bringing us closer to them, representing our community to the development team, and fostering a deep understanding of player motivations.
  • Support the studio’s Creator program by assisting with onboarding, engagement, and communication with creators, fostering positive relationships, and supporting creator-led activations and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with creators and internal stakeholders to support community campaigns, live streams, playtests, events, and other engagement initiatives.
  • Create written and visual content, in partnership with the Community Content Lead, that contributes to the implementation of the overall community and social media strategy.
  • Develop communications to support online and in-person events, including activations such as live streams, online playtests, creator events, and trade shows.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engagement, growth, creator participation, and retention; analyze community sentiment and performance to inform strategy.
  • Regularly report on insights and results, contributing to a data-driven, player-centric development approach.
  • Support the studio objectives and planning aligned to Haven’s ambitious goals; develop and support awareness for Haven to help attract top talent and grow buzz for its games, and lead engagement with employees, stakeholders, media, players industry contacts and more.
  • Manage Haven Studios social media channels and website including the development of content and content calendar.
  • Draft and edit studio materials including contributed articles, media advisories, press releases, studio fact sheets, speaking notes and briefing books.
  • Support studio leadership, recruiting and HR team to build Haven’s employment brand and achieve studio growth targets.
  • Act as a spokesperson for Haven and its games.
  • Provide timely feedback to studio leadership on progress against goals and KPIs.
  • Lead and execute event planning and other team initiatives to support studio culture in creative and engaging ways.
