About The Position

South Portland School District is utilizing the Community School model to improve educational outcomes through integrated systems of support. We are looking for a leader for South Portland High School to collaborate with school and district leaders on developing and operating the school's community school strategy. This involves integrating academic, health, mental health, and family support services into a coordinated system within the school. The role involves building and managing partnerships with community agencies, health and behavioral health providers, and municipal and nonprofit organizations, ensuring the quality and continuity of these partnerships. Additionally, this role may offer direct clinical services to students and will be involved in site-level needs assessments, improving attendance, family engagement, and expanded learning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold LCSW Social Work certification.
  • Must be in good standing with the Maine Board of Social Worker Licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of experience in a public school, community school, or school-based health setting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-sector partnerships and grant-funded programs.
  • Experience with clinical supervision, trauma-informed practice, and multi-tiered systems of support.
  • Familiarity with the South Portland community and its service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with school and district leaders on the development and operation of South Portland High School's community school strategy.
  • Integrate academic, health, mental health, and family support services within a single coordinated system at the building level.
  • Build and manage partnerships with community agencies, health and behavioral health providers, and municipal and nonprofit organizations.
  • Hold responsibility for the terms, quality, and continuity of partnerships.
  • Provide direct clinical services to students (may also provide).
  • Involve with site-level needs assessment.
  • Increase attendance.

  • Expanded learning initiatives.
