About The Position

Emergent is seeking a Community Intern in San Francisco to collaborate directly with our Community Lead and Head of Marketing. This role involves managing the operational aspects of our events and online community, and contributing to the expansion of our global ambassador program as we establish presence in new cities worldwide. This is a hands-on position offering significant ownership from the outset, providing exposure to the growth strategies of a community-led AI company. The intern will engage in both in-person event activities in San Francisco and online community management across platforms like Discord and Facebook, as well as in new city chapters. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about AI, small businesses, and community building, comfortable with both event execution and data tracking.

Requirements

  • Genuine interest in AI, startups, and small businesses, with curiosity about non-technical AI usage.
  • Experience as a builder, having created fun apps or websites and enjoying showcasing possibilities.
  • Comfortable on camera for recording walkthroughs, participating in livestreams, or interviewing builders.
  • Strong and friendly writing skills, capable of matching community tone across different platforms.
  • Clear communication skills on calls, for interacting with ambassador candidates and city leads globally.
  • Organized and reliable, with the ability to keep trackers updated and manage multiple timelines.
  • Process-oriented thinking, with the ability to identify successful event elements and formalize them into actionable checklists.
  • People-oriented and comfortable working at events, welcoming attendees, solving problems, and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work in person at HQ.
  • Proficiency with Luma, Discord, Facebook Groups, Google Sheets and Docs, Slack, and Notion.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use tools like Canva, CapCut, or OBS for content creation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running or moderating online communities (Discord, Reddit, Facebook groups, campus clubs).
  • Experience in event planning, campus organizing, or chapter/club leadership, particularly multi-city or multi-chapter initiatives.
  • Experience in interviewing, recruiting, or admissions (e.g., tour guide, club recruitment, hiring committees).
  • Personal projects built on Emergent or other non-technical coding platforms.
  • Experience with short-form video or streaming (Canva, CapCut, OBS, TikTok/YouTube).

Responsibilities

  • Manage Luma event pages, including content, registration, and reminders, and track RSVPs.
  • Handle check-in and on-site logistics for events, workshops, and mixers in San Francisco.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Discord and Facebook groups, including welcoming new members, answering questions, and routing product issues.
  • Provide prompt and friendly member support across various channels.
  • Identify and flag notable builders, stories, and use cases for content and social media teams.
  • Record product walkthroughs and demos, and co-host livestreams or builder interviews.
  • Maintain community trackers and dashboards for event attendance, signups, Discord growth, engagement, and user-generated content (UGC).
  • Assist in sourcing, screening, and interviewing ambassador candidates for new city expansions.
  • Review applications, conduct first-round calls, and prepare recommendations for the Community Lead.
  • Onboard new city leads by managing agreements, Slack setup, playbook walkthroughs, and event calendars.
  • Support new city leads through their initial events.
  • Curate and maintain the global events playbook, creating templates, checklists, and best practices for ambassadors.
  • Track ambassador events globally, including recaps, reports, metrics, and content.
  • Ensure consistent quality across the ambassador program as it scales.
  • Capture photos, clips, and stories at San Francisco events.
  • Collect high-quality UGC from global chapters.
