About The Position

Easterseals Iowa is seeking dedicated individuals to support clients in the Des Moines metro & surrounding areas. As a team member, you will visit multiple clients in their homes and in the community, assisting them with goals for greater independence. This includes helping with daily living skills such as cooking, personal care, socializing, exercising, money management, improving health, and learning safety skills. This role requires the daily use of your personal vehicle to travel to various locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to make independent decisions based on established policy, procedure and standard practice.
• Access to Reliable Transportation for regular participation in work.
• Maintenance of good driving record.
• Insurable under Easter Seals vehicle insurance policy.
• Ability to operate a computer and navigate through Easter Seals database.
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members, clients and the public in a professional and concerned manner.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours as required, including weekends and evenings.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
• Ability to write complete sentences and utilize appropriate grammar.
• Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift.
• Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.
• Access to a telephone.

• Experience in word processing software; Word and Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to work on their goals to be more independent.
• Help clients learn life skills such as cooking, making friends, money management, improving health, learning safety skills, personal cares, socializing, and exercising.
• Visit multiple clients throughout the day in their homes and in the community.
• Operate a computer and navigate through Easter Seals database.

• Bend, stoop, twist and lift.
• Transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.
• Successfully pass a Medication Management course as needed (Hourly Program) or within the first 90 days (24 Hour Program).
• Successfully complete Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training within the first 30 days.
• Successfully pass Adult and Child CPR, First Aid and agency required trainings within the first 90 days.
